2013 Yearbook Contest Winners Gallery – HIGH SCHOOL

Overall Yearbook

Overall yearbook is judged based on the use of written and graphic elements carried throughout the entirety of the yearbook.

Grand Prize:

Lincoln College Preparatory Academy 2013 Yearbook
Our theme “In Motion” came from the simple idea that students are always moving, sometimes nonstop. We wanted it to be more magazine-like than anything else with an emphasis in basic text and smooth lines

2nd Place:

Carbon Career & Technical Institute – Pe Yearbook
The 2013 book design is based on the theme, Memories of the Past, Dreams of the Future. Since memories and dreams are abstract concepts, we created an abstract look to complement the theme.

3rd Place:

Anderson County High School Yearbook
Our school is classified 4A. It was a play on words.

Cover Design

Yearbook cover designs are judged based on overall design quality, relevance to school and current year, as well as the use of graphic and textual design elements.

1st Prize:

Douglass High School Yearbook
We started by reviewing the icons of various movies and how they might provide a strong introduction to and identity for the book.

2nd Place:

Carbon Career & Technical Institute – Pe Yearbook
The cover design was created based on our theme: Memories of the Past, Dreams of the Future. Since memories and dreams are abstract concepts, we tried to create an open-ended look to complement the theme. Some people see the circles as rings from the bottom of a paint can, others see the combined circles, splatters, and colors as galaxies and planets. Either way, we liked that it was open to interpretation.

3rd Place:

Lincoln College Preparatory Academy 2013 Yearbook
Our theme “In Motion” came from the simple idea that students are always moving, sometimes nonstop. We wanted it to be more magazine-like than anything else with an emphasis in basic text and smooth lines.

Page Layout Design

Page layout design is judged based on the overall layout design, the use of innovative techniques, and the use of captions, headlines, and graphic elements.

1st Prize:

Carbon Career & Technical Institute – Pe Yearbook

CCTI is a career & technical high school which offers instruction in 15 different technical areas. Each ‘tech area’ is assigned 4 pages in the book. This layout is an example of one of the initial 2-page spreads. (We created 3 variations of the layout for some variety.) The layout is inspired by the cover design and the overall yearbook theme. We chose one feature photo for each technical area to highlight the skills and professionalism our students possess.

2nd Place:

Hudson Valley Consortium 2013 Yearbook
The students!

3rd Place:

ESP Roosevelt 2013 Yearbook

We thought about our teachers and how we put in so much work that we are really like superheroes at our school! 🙂
